Miss Emily made these at mum and toddler group recently, this post is therefore a little bit “cool idea, I should have thought of that” crossed with a bit of “my baby is an actual artistic genius, phone the Tate Modern immediately!” It is a little similar to the flowers that Oz made as teacher presents one year with fun foam, yet looks so completely different.

I can’t believe Oscar’s last term at nursery is a week from over! Here’s what we made for his teachers.

And here’s how we did it. (Thanks Auntie Juliet for the photos.)

Stick a coloured lolly stick in the bottom of the teeny flower pot with blue tak or plasticine. (Incidentally I tried a garden centre but ended up getting them at hobby craft. Apparently they are too small to plant my seedlings in, the guy at the garden centre was very worried!!!)

Cut a circle to fit in the top of the pot. (Unless your 4 year old is a better aim than mine with scissors do this bit yourself!). make a slit in it and slide it down over the lolly stick.

image

Stick fun foam flowers back to back each side of the lolly stick. (Good luck persuading your preschooler that they should match!) We used sticky back ones.

Cut out some fun foam leaves. Argue with 4 year old over how many should be applied back to back around lolly stick. Loose.

Punch out tags and get him to write his name. Add a message and ribbon around this as best you can. Use a glue dot to attach it to the pot.

I suspect yesterday wasn’t Mother’s Day in the USA, but it was here and look at what my lovely boys arranged!

The portrait shot is by the lovely and most talented Louise of Louise Beale Photography! Check her out, she’s awesome! Those bumps and baby shots on her site make me drool! If only I could convince Jamie into arty shots!
