When I decided to do a tea party theme for Miss Emily’s birthday I was a bit (okay, very) conficted on what to make for the cake. I decided on a teapot (and a few times wished I hadn’t). I know I know, another rubbish picture. I will do better, I promise!

The fun started when the ball/hemisphere tin I hired wasn’t actually a hemisphere. The upshot was that to make a teapot shape the cake had to have a left and a right hemisphere as oposed to north and south!

We join the ‘build’ there…

Then for the handle and spout… This is the first time I tried doing the rice crispie treats thing. I ended up part forming, freezing for 20 minutes, moulding a bit, back in the freezer etc… I actually made 2 sets just in case.

It worked out okay though… (I wont mention the HUGE dowels that worked as scaffolding to hold up the handle and spout – you can see one of them in the handle picture below.)

Yes at this point, the glass is structurally integral! Fortunately by the next morning I managed to move the glass without the soput falling off!

I’ve been putting off this post for ages… 3 months at least… mostly because I couldn’t decide if I should split it up or what…

I may have gone just a leeeetle over the top. Just maybe…

Here are the cookies… teapots of course. What a perfect excuse to use the teapot cutter 😉

These are the toppers waiting to go on fairy cakes…

and some baby sized cakes in petit fours cases.

Sweeties on the table… it’s my pampered chef trifle bowl. (I added washi tape bunting but it’s a bit hard to see.)

The macaroons… there’s a post still to write about the trials and tribulations of those macaroons…

Oscar’s input was helping me make these cute marshmallow teacups. He ‘did good’ don’t you think?

P1160435

party straws and pink lemonade… the toppers are stampin up…

P1160450

Mini mouse oreo pops…

And a couple of shots of the whole thing.

Grown ups had their tea and cake from Oma’s China tea service. And we had Miss Emily’s new sandpit picnic table (sands sand of course) with some plastic tea sets for the little ones to play with.

This is another quickie. The roses went on this cake 4 times so I was too stressed for piccies!!! Inside are 2 stacked dark choc brownie cakes (wheat free and dairy free). I didn’t get a pic of it cut as it was a customer cake. They were sandwiched with pink butter icing too so I bet it was really pretty.  I do know it tasted good! (There was much positive feedback!)

The brief was pink, girly and sparkly, think I nailed it!

Here is the rest of the party stuff that I have been promising (threatening?)

angry birds party

On to the decorations. The bunting is just paper with angry birds cut out of wrapping paper and added on. The birds are drawn and painted onto brown paper. There were also pigs but I can’t find a photo.

The party table, again painted banner, and also hideously expensive themed balloons. You gotta have balloons, right? The birds at the back were knitted by my oh so talented Mummy, she’s writing up her patterns and has promised I can post them when she is done. [There are more that didn’t fit on there!]

See those buckets on the cake table? They were for our angrybird hunt. I stuck 35 little index pictures of birds (one for each bucket) around the room then each team has to find all 35 of their bird.

Piggy Jelly, what else?

Daddy created covers for the juice boxes too!

We played piggie skittles where you have to knock as many as possible down with 3 bean bags…

And of course the calssic game pin-the-angry-bird-on-the-catapult!

It’s not actually technically a cake…. Oma’s birthday was while we were at the chalet so traking a cake all the way to Switzerland would have been tricky…

For an angry bird-day party you need a cake, right? I had in mind a red bird made similarly to the frog you saw last week, but Oscar said he’d prefer a scene. Well after pandering to Juliet’s every whim I couldn’t disapoint my Oz, could I?

The grass is piped with a Wilton’s grass tip. The wood is of course cadbury’s flake and the birds and pigs are fondant onto petit fours size cupcakes. It actually went better than I thought it would. I did envisage a bigger structure but it was so hard to make it all stay up. I had also bought fox’s glacier mints to be glass, but in the ed didn’t use them.
