Miss Emily is currently deeply concerned with in or out.

So when a cardboard box arrived she decided to take up residence! I did get her out long enough to cut a few holes….

She and the happyland folks have taken up residence…

Tell me please, why did I just buy a house for her happyland people to live in????

A couple of weeks ago the girlies and I had a child free outing to the knit and stitch show at Kensington Olympia.

Easter in the mud!!

I’m sure you’re all wondering about my lack of Easter posts…

Easter wasn’t forgotten in the Lewendon house. (and we didn’t just remember the chocolate part either) but there weren’t a lot of Easter crafts. You see the week before we were clearing and packing the camper and then Easter weekend we were away at Santa Pod in the mud and the freezing-ness.

It was worth it. The jet cars were awesome and I think the hovercraft were a real hit too. (Jamie was demonstrating.)

In the midst of it all, here is our muddy Easter Egg hunt!

Snow Ice Cream!!!!

So it may not be new to you people on the far side of the pond but we’d certainly never tried it…

I found a recipe for snow ice cream here. I had heard it mentioned but never really knew what it was; yet more snow sent me racing to pinterest for stuff to do.

We didn’t use the same ratios as Blooming on Bainbridge but here’s our take on it.

Start by whisking 2 eggs for a loooooooong time.

Add in your milk (we used goats milk as Mummy and Miss Emily can’t have cow’s milk) and sugar and whisk a lot more.

Next you’re gonna need some snow. We used 2 bowls this size!

Slowly mix in the snow…

It turns all ice creamy!!!

Some of us weren’t all that sure about eating snow….

Some of us were rather enthusiastic!

It got all melty very fast…

But we saved some in the freezer for later!

Snow Angry Birds

So you remember when it snowed at home we made the snowman and the snowdog and we made art in the snow with squeezy bottles? Well in Switzerland we stepped it up a little. I give you, in glorious technicolour, snow angry birds….

We made them from snow and then ‘painted’ them with food colour and water in a squeezy bottle. The colour faded after 24 hours though.

Angry Bird-day Party

Here is the rest of the party stuff that I have been promising (threatening?)

On to the decorations. The bunting is just paper with angry birds cut out of wrapping paper and added on. The birds are drawn and painted onto brown paper. There were also pigs but I can’t find a photo.

The party table, again painted banner, and also hideously expensive themed balloons. You gotta have balloons, right? The birds at the back were knitted by my oh so talented Mummy, she’s writing up her patterns and has promised I can post them when she is done. [There are more that didn't fit on there!]

See those buckets on the cake table? They were for our angrybird hunt. I stuck 35 little index pictures of birds (one for each bucket) around the room then each team has to find all 35 of their bird.

Piggy Jelly, what else?

Daddy created covers for the juice boxes too!

We played piggie skittles where you have to knock as many as possible down with 3 bean bags…

And of course the calssic game pin-the-angry-bird-on-the-catapult!

It’s not actually technically a cake…. Oma’s birthday was while we were at the chalet so traking a cake all the way to Switzerland would have been tricky…

A Real Igloo….

As you know we recently made a snow dash to the mountains. We stayed in an awesome chalet, and when we arrived we discovered that the previous inhabitants had left us this…. if that’s not awrsome then I don’t know what is.

American Sugar Cookies

So as you do on a Monday Morning with nothing better to do I hopped around the link parties. (See where I party here.)

And I found this yummy looking sprinkle covered sugar cookie recipe over at Jellibean Journals. Now I’ve never made American style sugar cookies. Miss Emily and I decided we’d give it a go. (note to self: baby and gooey mix, not a good combination!)

I thought they would stay ball shaped like this:

Don’t they look so pretty? I spent so long coating every last bit of cookie ball with sprinkles. I wanted to put them on sticks like cake pops. I was quite excited about this, which means Miss Emily was excited too.

Who knew that what they actually do is this?

They didn’t come out nearly so pretty as Jelli’s but they did taste good! (and Miss Emily and I used up a LOT of half jars of sprinkles too… time for a sprinkle shopping spree?)

Not one of my best baking moments, but we’ll certainly try it again…
